With a custom webhook the agent calls the address of your own API at the moment the conversation calls for it. This lets you connect almost any system that has an HTTP endpoint, even if Ipster has no ready-made connection for it.
Ipster and your system, directly connected
You decide what the webhook does and when the agent uses it. This works for phone and for chat.
Call your system
The agent calls the address of your own API at the right moment in the conversation. You choose the method: GET, POST, PUT, PATCH or DELETE.
Send details along
The agent sends what your system needs, such as an order number the customer mentions. You send fixed values along without the agent seeing them.
Use details from the conversation
What is already known in the conversation, such as the caller's number or something the agent recorded earlier, can be filled in the URL, the headers and the parameters.
Use the answer
The agent reads the answer from your system and tells the customer what they need, for example the status of an order.
Keep a detail from the answer
A field from the answer can be stored as a variable, so a next connection or the prompt can use it in the same conversation.
Try again after a failure
If your system gives a temporary error or the connection stalled, Ipster tries again.
Your customer calls or chats
Ipster takes the conversation and hears what the customer needs.
The agent gathers what is needed
It asks for the details your system needs, such as an order number.
Your system answers
The agent calls your API address and gets the answer back.
The agent passes it on
It uses the answer to help the customer further.

Set up the call
Choose the method, add headers for security and decide which details the agent sends along.
Decide when it may run
With requirements, the webhook only runs when something is true, for example that the customer was found first. If not, the agent gets an error message instead of the action running.
Decide how it sounds
The agent can say a short phrase while it waits for your system, like "let me check for you". Leave that empty and it works silently in the background.
Enter the address
Enter the URL of your API and choose the method, for example GET or POST.
Describe the connection
Give the webhook a name and a description, so the agent knows when to use it, and choose which details it sends along.
Tell it in the prompt
Explain to the agent at which moment in the conversation it calls the webhook.
Test your webhook first with a tool such as Postman, before you connect it to an agent.
